Race Report - BPYC Series Race 6
Race 6 kicked off on 24/10 at 1pm. Wait a minute - isn't that a Saturday? It is, the committee decided at the start of the season to bring race 6 forward by a day to avoid a possible clash with the Balmain Regatta scheduled on the Sunday. We had starters from the club (more on that in the next news item) wanted to do both so this compromise was reached. The BPYC encourages its regluar members to join other regattas on our harbour and always welcomes visiting yachts from other clubs to race with us. We love sailing and appreciate everyone has their own schedule - the club actively supports such boating-polyamory.
But back to race 6. A fleet of 5 competitors set off onto our new favourite course to Rocky Point/ Balmoral and round Cannae Point. In beautiful conditions the fleet contested a tight race and came in within minutes of each other, with the exception of Starfire. There a trapped Halyard saw the vice-commodore hoisted up the mast in the bosuns chair, no doubt Sneha appreciated the good view but it does slow the boat down somewhat. In the end Blue Sky took line honours again, but only by under one minute. Conquista had a stellar race, second over the line and first on handicap- congratulations. After corrected time Fifth Avenue (with a two person crew) came second, followed by Money Spinner III, Blue Sky and Starfire.
